VOLUME ENHANCEMENT FOR YOUTHFUL REJUVENATED SKIN
Skin rejuvenation by adding volume can produce a very natural looking improvement in youthfulness that is non-invasive and non-surgical.
One of the main effects of aging is the loss of facial volume. Our faces are full and voluminous when we are young, without wrinkles. Our face volume decreases with age, wrinkles form, and we begin to lose volume. A facelift alone can reduce wrinkles and sag, but without adding the volume that was lost, the result can be unnatural.
As we age, we lose volume in many areas of our faces. Among the areas that lose volume are the cheeks, brows, and lips. During the aging process, the cheeks diminish in size and fall from their usual position in front of the eyes to a lower position. It causes nasolabial folds (the fold from the corner of the nose to the mouth), oral commissures (the folds just below the corner of the mouth), and then jowls (the skin that sags beneath the jaw line). The result is a more square appearance to the face. In contrast, the face of a young person resembles the shape of an upside-down triangle, with a line through the eyes forming a base and the chin forming a point.
The brows may also lose volume, exposing the upper orbital rim, giving the face a more skeletal appearance. Lips with less volume will appear thinner and with less definition in the vertical upper lip lines.
