Anti-Wrinkle Injection Procedure
During the procedure, patients receive injections into the areas where they are experiencing overactive muscles that are causing wrinkles to develop, such as the face, neck and chin. A local anaesthetic cream may be administered to the skin beforehand if it is thought the patient will be uncomfortable with the needles. The anti-wrinkle injections may cause a slight stinging sensation at first, but this is normally tolerated well by most patients and treatment does not last long.
After the procedure, there is minimal downtime for the patient and you are free to leave the clinic when you are ready. You may experience a slight redness around the injection site, as well as some swelling. But, this will usually fade away by itself within 24 hours of receiving treatment. This means you can return to your normal routine as soon as possible.
Overtime the coming weeks, patients will be able to see a noticeable different in the wrinkles caused by overactive muscles. The injections will mean that the nerve signals that cause the muscles to move will be disrupted. This allows time for your skin to repair in the region. As the skin smoothens out, lines will decrease and this will reveal a youthful and rejuvenated appearance.
Every patient is different and how long the results will last from anti-wrinkle injections will vary. During your initial consultation, a professional will be able to advise you on what you can expect.
