Electromagnetic energy is aimed at the pelvic floor to cause supramaximal pelvic floor muscle contractions. This action is similar to doing kegel exercises, but with far more intensity, less effort, and involves sitting on the Emsella chair for 30 minutes. A 30-minute session is equivalent to the intensity of 11,200 pelvic floor exercises.
Surgery Free Treatment
Before the Emsella Chair, the only treatments available were daily pelvic floor exercises or invasive surgery. The Emsella Chair is an FDA approved medical device that uses electromagnetic waves, focused on the pelvis, giving over 11,000 contractions in 28 minutes.
Treatment strengthens pelvic floor muscles so you can contract and control the bladder, avoiding what is commonly referred to as light bladder leakage or stress incontinence. Scientific research has shown that 95% of treated patients reported significant improvement in their quality of life.*
WHAT IS URINARY INCONTINENCE?
Urinary incontinence is a medical condition affecting both men and women. There are three main classifications of urinary incontinence. Patients may experience one type or mixed incontinence.
WHAT IS URGE INCONTINENCE?
When you have a sudden and often intense urge to urinate, commonly followed by an involuntary loss of urine. Often you will need to go to the toilet more often during the day, every half hour or hour, meaning you will always need to know where a toilet is when you are out, this quite often restricts activities. Commonly this will disrupt your sleep as you will need to frequently wake and urinate.
WHAT IS STRESS INCONTINENCE?
Often referred to as light bladder leakage, stress incontinence is when urine leaks when you put pressure on your bladder. This could happen when you are exercising, often jumping or coughing, laughing or sneezing, resulting in a small or large amount of urine leakage. This can be embarrassing and mean you restrict or cut out many enjoyable activities that could cause leakage.
Urinary Incontinence is often worsened or caused by pregnancy, child birth, menopause, dramatic weight changes and female surgeries such as hysterectomy. Also, as we age the prevalence and the severity of urinary incontinence increases.
